Children and teenagers who identify as a gender they were not assigned at birth are transgender. Some transgender youth remain in the closet about their identity, meaning they don’t reveal it to anyone. 

Transgender youth can face discrimination and problems at home because they are transgender. Western society is more accepting of transgender teenagers and adults than in the past. It is important to accept everyone.
