Two types of eating disorders, anorexia and bulimia, can affect both boys and girls. 33% of people with eating disorders are male. People with these disorders have a distorted view of their body and are unable to tell what their body truly looks like. Anorexia is when a person limits what they eat to an extreme to lose weight. Bulimia is when the affected person eats, but then makes themself vomit so they don't digest the food. People who have bulimia might also take certain medications that make the food digest faster than normal, or exercise to an extreme to use the calories of the food they eat. These disorders are very serious. If you or someone you know has trouble with food, tell a parent or guardian or your doctor. They can probably help you.
