Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) can be transmitted through having sex or sexual contact, among other things. The most effective way for teens not to get an STD is abstinence, which means teens not engaging in sexual behavior with another person. There are many STDs, also called Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs).

STDs include, but are not limited to:

Chlamydia

Genital Herpes

Genital Warts (HPV)

Gonorrhea

Hepatitis B (HBV)

HIV and AIDS

Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID)

Pubic Lice (Crabs)

Syphilis

Trichomoniasis

If you have sex (vaginal, oral, anal), it’s recommended to use a latex condom. Get tested between sexual partners.
