If you have a very itchy scalp, you might have lice. A grown-up, such as a parent or guardian, doctor, or school nurse, can check you for lice. Lice are gray in color and bite your head, irritating your scalp. These bites cause intense itching. An adult can remove the lice and lice eggs with a lice comb. A lice shampoo or other application might also be required. Sharing hats, combs, brushes, or music headphones are some ways lice can transfer from one person to another. Also, lice like clean hair, so don't assume you have lice because your hair is dirty.
