Phimosis is when the foreskin of an uncircumcised penis won't pull back. Babies and boys until about age 6 may have phimosis, which is supposed to go away. At about age 6, it should be possible for the boy to retract the foreskin to urinate and to clean. It is uncommon for the foreskin to remain unretractable in the boy's adolescence.
Boys should not force their foreskin to retract, as it can cause the blood not to reach his penis. This condition, called paraphimosis, must be dealt with by medical professionals right away. In older boys and grown men, it can be caused by several reasons, including scars on the foreskin, injury (such as forcing the foreskin to go back), skin and medical ailments.
Boys with diabetes are more likely to experience balanitis, which is an infection on the penis tip.
